Jesse-isms

Jesse Jay is getting even more fun and cute these days. And my favorite quality, COMPREHENSION!! I love that when I ask him to go get his shoes, he goes directly to the closet his shoes are in and tries to open the door. Or if you ask him where his belly button is, he lifts up his shirt and pokes his belly button. Or, if you ask him where Toby is, he lifts up my shirt and pokes me in the belly button or starts slapping my belly like it's a congo drum.

Today he woke up early. Dang. My day to sleep in a bit. So I fed him breakfast and then take him back to bed with me. He isn't used to napping with me so it was a struggle for him, but after 3 or 4 no's and reminders that it was "night-night time," he finally found a comfortable position so we could sleep a bit.

When we woke up I took him into the shower with me and started getting ready for work. After I got him dressed in his clothes and fed him lunch. He ate everything in sight! Including my lunch. As I was finishing eating my lunch, he had already finished his and was working on polishing off mine as well; he started getting annoyed and pointed to the garage and saying "bye-bye" and "Emma!" He knew we were going to his aunt Sarah's house that day and spending the day with her and Emma, and wanted to go right then.

I told him to go get his shoes, which he did and attempted to put on. Put him in his "hat" and coat. He grabbed the bag we generally take his extra clothes in when we go early in the morning and was ready to get going. It was adorable!

Jesse told me that the other day Jesse Jay put himself to bed. He walked up to his dad and said "nigh-nigh" and walked to his bedroom door. Jesse opened the door for him and he walked up to the crib and said "up." Jesse put him in the crib and the baby laid himself down and snuggled in to go to sleep. He hasn't repeated that one yet, but it's a nice trick.

He tries really hard to be helpful too. He carries my lunch or his bag when we go to the car, or the other day when he tried to help his dad buckle him in his car seat.

He also likes making us laugh. When he finds something that makes us laugh he likes to do it over and over again and chuckles so hard, I think he might bust. Like last night, he brought his baby laptop to me and made me turn it on (he grabs my finger and puts it to the on button). I indulge him and do this. He immediately turns it off. I give him a surprised expression and say "hey!" and he laughs hysterically. Rinse and repeat about 10,000 times. He never stops laughing and the laugh never fades in intensity. I eventually resolved to hiding his laptop when he looked away.

Or I'll ask him where is Toby. He immediately lifts up my shirt and either pokes me (hard) in the belly button or smacks my belly like a congo drum. Once he tried to feed my belly button an animal cracker. It was precious.

He runs everywhere. He is obsessed with his shoes, but most especially BOOTS! He loves boots. Mine, his dad's, his own. He thinks boots are great.

And in terms of dislikes, he is such a boy. I can't get him to eat a single vegetable. Unless you count pickles, and that's hit and miss.

My little boy is growing up so fast. He also is turning slightly devious. He likes to take something and put it into something else. Like, picking up a hair tie and putting it in the laundry basket. That's benign, but I can already envision him hiding things we actually need or want....

It's such an adventure with this little boy!
