Random Tid bits

So Jesse Jay is still pottying. It's definitely "training." He is still trying to read his body signals to when he needs to go. Sometimes he does and sometimes he doesn't. Some days he goes right away when he needs to go, and sometime he sits for what seems like hours. And sometimes there are accidents.

But when there is success we sing, praise, dance and Jesse Jay gets a "chalkey" whether it's chocolate milk or a tiny M&M. He loves his rewards. He is talking A LOT. He interacts with the TV and responds correctly at least half the time. He certainly knows and understands a lot more than I had given him credit for. And he says whole sentences, "I want milk please, mommy!"

Now Toby, is loud. Very loud. He screams and yells. A lot. Very different in a lot of ways from his older brother. He reminds me of my dad when he grins. He is crawling proficiently everywhere. He can pull up on anything and usually does it one handed. He has yet to dare to take a step.

He just got over some funky viral illness. He had a mild cough and runny nose, then 8 days into it suddenly got a fever of 103 and had a bit of a rash. Fever lasted a few days- well managed with Motrin (my new favorite as Tylenol did nothing for the fever). I was freaked out. Kids get sick, but when it's my kid- I am so worried I might miss something. It calms me down to have someone else look at him. They agreed. Virus.

Jesse (SR) had an interview for a computer teacher position at an Elementary School very close to our house. He didn't get it. He asked for feedback and the principal wanted to talk to him. He spoke with her today. She said it was a VERY hard decision. They went with someone from his cohort (from NNU) who had student taught there and been subbing in their school all year long. He also had the same skill sets as Jesse. (rough to be told twice that you're terrific but someone was a teensy amount more terrific than you- but better than the 'I'm sorry but you're awful, don't ever apply again!').

However, she likes Jesse a lot and so do her teachers. He has a great reputation and has done very well. The secretary's all go out of their way to contact him for any openings they know of. Well, she told him they are expecting increased student numbers and a few people are leaving next school year and she really likes him and might have a position for him next year and wants to sit down with him and talk about this some more. So that's where he is. Hopefully that will pan out because the school is like a mile away from our house. And any of you who know Jesse- can't you see him biking to work on sunny days??

We (our family of 4) are going on Toby's first plane ride to Washington, next weekend. I needed a break- a little mini vacation- away. When we calculated going to McCall and such- it was just as expensive to fly to Seattle as two nights in a hotel. So we are going. My dad hasn't seen the boys since August and wouldn't see them until April- maybe June. That's too long. So we get to see my family and spend time with them. Here's hoping it doesn't snow.

I'm pretty much status quo. Working, mommying, working out when I can, and trying to avoid the persistent viral plagues and sinus infections that seem to find me.
